You probably have heard about "click fraud" - what is it, and how do you stop it from happening?
If you are an AdWords or AdSense user; you have probably already encountered "click fraud" to some degree.
Google uses clicks to reimburse publishers for allowing Adsense ads to be placed on their websites. A certain amount of money is paid by Google, to the publisher, every time an Adsense ad is clicked on by someone visiting their site.
Unscrupulous website publishers occasionally attempt to artificially increase their earnings, by generating false, or "fraudulent clicks", on Adsense ads placed on their sites.
Click fraud, is simply the attempt by these unscrupulous publishers, to have people clicking the ads on their websites, to earn a higher income.
Whatever name you give it, it's still fraud.
Some people set up websites for the sole purpose of generating revenue with "click fraud" using Google's Adsense program.
An incredible number of clicks are gathered by some publishers using sophisticated, very complex methods. Other publishers use simpler ways to get other people to click on their Adsense ads.
Without going into detail as to how this is actually accomplished, publishers that use either method will likely be banned from the program, and probably sued, when a large number of clicks suddenly appear from a single address.
There are countless "click fraud" scams that abound on the Internet, and Google has developed a strict policy concerning it.
Publishers that have employed such techniques as "click fraud" in the past, have been successfully sued, however; even with Google's best efforts to minimize the risk, "click fraud" still occurs.
Conservative estimates are that 20% of AdSense link clicks are "click fraud" and intended to steal from the person placing the ad.
Despite the amount of "click fraud" that cannot be contained by Google, AdWords advertisers still find this method is more profitable than any other conventional non targeted advertising method on the Internet.
